MILP #90: Songs of 1990 edition

The Weekly MILP (Moms In the Legal Profession) Roundup is hosted on a rotating basis between PT-LawMom, A New Duck, and A Little Fish in Law School blogs. We originally rounded up just the moms in law school, but then discovered that those women eventually graduate. Who knew? So now all the moms in the legal field (heh) are represented. We aim for Sunday posts.

I am taking the round up for a swamped New Duck this week. Pt-Lawmom will take next week. One New Duck will round us up again soon.

This week's theme: Songs of 1990 edition.

In honor of the 90th round up, I looked at Billboard's Top 100 hits of 1990. Oh man, this list totally brought me back to high school. The numbers refer to where that song was on the chart.

1. Hold On, Wilson Phillips. PtLawmom (I know that there is pain/but you hold on for one more day/and break free from the chains...)

3. Nothing Compares 2 U, Sinead O'Connor. Magic Cookie. (T U double Y Z)

4. Poison, Bell Biv Devoe. Law school mommy. (Honorable mention: 56. U Can't Touch This, M.C. Hammer)

7. Another Day In Paradise, Phil Collins. 3L Wannabe.

10. Blaze Of Glory, Jon Bon Jovi. Peanut Butter Burrito. GO DAN!

11. Do Me!, Bell Biv Devoe -- Googie. (Sorry, Googie, I couldn't resist! Honorable mention: 63. The Humpty Dance, Digital Underground)

12. How Am I Supposed To Live Without You, Michael Bolton. Dakota. (Ode to thumbdrives).

19. Release Me, Wilson Phillips. New Lawmom (mid-term over!)

33. Unskinny Bop, Poison. Law School Mom. (On "sports" for the athletically challenged)

38. Downtown Train, Rod Stewart. Cee (Starting to Melt).

41. Roam, B-52's -- Legally Certifiable.

47. Blame It On The Rain, Milli Vanilli. Menagerie.

52. Praying For Time, George Michael. Lag Liv. (Honorable mention: 61. Can't Stop, After 7 -- I don't know this song or this artist, but dude, it says 'can't stop after 7' and the post is about working past 7... umm, ok, so I should quit while I'm ahead...)

Now, just for the sake of nostalgia, songs that didn't work for the round up but deserve mention:
5. Vogue, Madonna
6. Vision Of Love, Mariah Carey
13. Pump Up The Jam, Technotronic
14. Opposites Attract, Paula Abdul
18. Black Velvet, Alannah Myles

4 little fish:

  1. Love it, an excellent addition of the MILP roundup.

I'm now going to my car to dig out my Wilson Phillis Greatest Hits CD because I can't get "Hold On" out of my head (and don't really even want to :)

  2. Totally amazing. I, too, must go download Wilson Phillips off iTunes so I can take Taylor Swift off permanent repeat.

  3. That was fantastic. How come it's so much easier to read the roundup than compose it? Thanks for the help, and I've got your back week after next.

  4. Dude - I SO started posting again. Throw me a bone!
