Yoga

Two recent tweets:

Inspired by @lauramclaura I am going to a beginner yoga class tomorrow. I'm sure my obese, inflexible, 34 year old self will be just fine

Thanks for all the yoga encouragement. It ended in tears, panic attack. Unmitigated disaster comes to mind. Will try again next week though.

I find it hilarious that my son is now obsessed with yoga. I am looking up beginner poses and short videos online because he wants to do downward dog and the dolphin pose. Wonders if there is a yoga for kids dvd. Any recommendations on that score would be welcome.

I have committed to two more classes. Let's see if I can remember to breathe next week. That might help.

2 little fish:

  1. Breathing is very important! I used to do yoga pretty regularly years ago. Then last year I signed up for an intermediate yoga class thinking, well, surely beginning yoga would be too easy. Yeah... my dumb ass fell over and hurt myself doing some stupid pose I shouldn't have been doing, and messed up my ankle. Then I quit. Moral of the story: take it slow, and don't push yourself too hard. There are plenty of good reasons to do yoga, and all of those are undermined if you hurt yourself and/or stress yourself out!

  2. good for you! Stick with it, the learning curve is kind of rough, but you will probably find that Yoga is the only work out that you always look forward to and always feel better after!
