Random thoughts

I am too scattered right now to put together a coherent post. Here's what's going on:

  • My spell checker keeps changing the name of the parties in a divorce case to Lovelorn.
  • Clownfish started scouting. Bullshark is the den leader. Their uniforms are so cute I could die. Clownfish also just started playing soccer, but I miss all the practices due to work. Its ok, cuz Bullshark is the assistant coach. How lucky am I to have such an involved father for my son?
  • I am officially "out" at work, at least to the people who needed to know. They took it as well as could be expected. My anxiety level has decreased considerably now that its out there. I've proposed a schedule for my return that should work (almost full time with an earlier start and earlier departure).  We'll see how it goes. Too far away to worry about it now.
  • We went for a drive in a quasi-country suburb today and I saw a cow grazing on what was basically someone's front lawn.  I looked twice to make sure it was real. I pointed it out to Bullshark and wondered how they kept it from wandering off.  Maybe they stake it down? I opined.  No pun intended, he replied.  Yep.... that's why I married him.
  • My belly has really popped the last few days. Twenty three weeks, and I finally look adorable and pregnant and not just overweight. My weight is still holding steady at -16 from when I started. Awesome.
  • Baked an apple pie tonight.
  • In-laws coming for brunch tomorrow.
  • Nursery is about 75% ready.
  • Phineas & Ferb is about the best kid show on television.

3 little fish:

  1. Yay, glad things are going well and the work anxiety has decreased! Did they agree to your proposed schedule or will it be an ongoing discussion?

Not a big fan of Phineas and Ferb, but maybe I'm looking at it as the mom of a 3-year old. I'm a big fan of Super Why! at the moment, especially since it makes K race around the house yelling, "SUPER SPELLING POWER!"

  2. Hooray on work and the weight. I'm glad the work thing went relatively well. Seriously (?!?) on the nursery. I'm 33 weeks and you put me to shame. We've got a crib in the garage, a changing table, no crib mattress yet and one crib sheet. We could put something together if baby came tomorrow but ready? Ha!!!

  3. @CM. Yeah, we only started watching it recently. P&F will make you happy when he's six and wants to watch the terrible, violent shows about mutants his friends talk about and you can agree to compromise with P&F and/or Food Network. Used to love Superwhy and Team Umi Zoomi (sp).

Ongoing discussion, but tentative approval. They're open to a slightly earlier start time and somewhat early departure. I'd rather do that and go back at 8-9 weeks than stay out the full 12 to which I'm entitled, and I think they'd prefer that too, so they're gonna be flexible in the end.

@PTLM Nursery is cleaned and painted. We have sheets and bedding and furniture etc from Clownfish. We need curtains and a rug. So don't be too impressed... all we've really done is cleaned and painted. And we don't have many free weekends before we're buried under snow, so...
