My doc wants me to tell her by my next appointment if I want to go for VBAC or if I want to schedule a C. Last time, the C was not planned. Let's just say I don't tell my birth story for Clownfish to expectant moms because I don't want to freak them out. I'm still weighing my options... I could aim to go naturally but schedule the C at least as a "this is the end, ready or not" date. Its weird though -- the thought of choosing my daughter's birthday.
If you could choose, would you pick 1/11/11? I kind of think that would be an awesome birthday to have.
I am in the same boat! I never want to tell expectant mothers about the nightmare I had.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of getting to say, "OK, I'm going in and having a baby on X date." Giving yourself the weekend as an 'extra' two days. Maybe you can use MLK day so your husband gets an extra day? :)
+1. (When expectant moms ask about my story, I tell them, "I had a tough time... but I realized that even if your labor and delivery are awful, it only lasts a day or two and then you have your baby and it's all worth it." How's that for spin?)
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try the VBAC because my recovery was so difficult with the C and I'd like to be able to pick up my toddler and be functional around the house. At the same time, I guess they don't let you go that long after your due date if you're trying for a VBAC? Do most people schedule a C just in case? I'll be interested to hear what you decide and why.
1/11/11 would be awesome, and I bet it will be really crowded in the hospital too because other parents will be thinking the same thing... personally, I don't think it would be worth it, but then I get stressed out when there are too many people around.
I think they'd let me go a full ten days past due if I go for VBAC. My worry is my forty mile commute/drive to the hospital if I go into labor at work. My husband works forty miles in the other direction -- not exactly convenient.
ReplyDeleteI also don't want to be pregnant sitting at home and waiting when I could be working. (There is zero flexibility -- there is NO work from home option.) If I stop working too early, I won't have as much recovery time.
Its a lot to consider. I'll keep you posted.
It would be so nice to not have to worry about all the unknowns with going into labor naturally, especially with your work situation. And 1/11/11? Awesome.
ReplyDeleteUgh on the early decision.
ReplyDeleteHey, my first vaginal birth ROCKED!!! :-) I'm hoping the induction is half as smooth.
But scheduling, especially with your limited time off, may be a good plan...
i think thats awesome! Plus you can tel her you hand picked it for her. how sweet.
