Inspired by @lauramclaura I am going to a beginner yoga class tomorrow. I'm sure my obese, inflexible, 34 year old self will be just fine
Thanks for all the yoga encouragement. It ended in tears, panic attack. Unmitigated disaster comes to mind. Will try again next week though.

I find it hilarious that my son is now obsessed with yoga. I am looking up beginner poses and short videos online because he wants to do downward dog and the dolphin pose. Wonders if there is a yoga for kids dvd. Any recommendations on that score would be welcome.
I have committed to two more classes. Let's see if I can remember to breathe next week. That might help.

Overheard in court
Judge: So let me get this straight. This is a [case of a particular procedural posture in which the court sits as a reviewing body.]
Lawyer: Yes.
Judge: And I need to review the record that was considered by the [nonjudicial commission]?
Layer: Yes.
Judge: And if I cannot find evidence in that record that supports the decision that you're here seeking review on, you win.
Lawyer: Yes.
Judge: Then explain to me this: why are you the party seeking to add [voluminous documents] to the record???
Lawyer: *crickets*

Clownfish: At the hotel, are we sleeping in a king bed, a queen bed . . . or a princess bed?
A princess bed would be too small!
I sleep in a prince bed. You have a queen bed.

MILP #142: Snapshots
The Weekly MILP (Moms In the Legal Profession) Roundup is hosted on a rotating basis between PT-LawMom, Butterflyfish, and Attorney Work Product blogs. We originally rounded up just the moms in law school, but then discovered that those women eventually graduate. Who knew? So now all the moms in the legal field (heh) are represented. We aim for Sunday posts.
Next week is Pt-Lawmom.
This week's theme. You Oughta Be in Pictures.
No pictures but snapshots all the same . . .
There are some newcomers to the list. Go welcome them.

If you’d like to have your blog added to the MILP blogroll for weekly review or would like us to consider a specific post, drop the hostess(es) an email or leave a comment at our sites. Expecting Moms in law school are welcome! Hat tip as always to the “original” Roundup — Beyond the Underground and the co-rounder-upper, Nobody!
Next week is Pt-Lawmom.

- Rayne of Terror. Cuteness from a lawyer on a break
- Nonsense & Frippery. Stillness.

Moms in Law School and MILP #141
Edited to add: Proto Atty had the round up this week.
Here next week.
Here next week.
At one time, our round up was almost exclusively law student mommies with a few attorneys. Now I find it is almost all attorneys, with just a few law students in the mix. What a difference a few years makes . . .
I feel I have been remiss. There must be other blogging law student mommies. I have not been great about trolling all the new law student blogs to find them.
So ya'll are gonna have to self-identify.
Are you a mommy** in law school?
Are you a pregnant woman in law school?
Are you starting law school in the fall as a mommy?
If so, leave a comment or drop me an email. I'll make sure it makes it to the other women who round up.
** We also take moms, mothers, mamas, and (for those of you with tweens or teens) women identified only as *rolls eyes* "her."

Conversations with a beginning reader
Sight word cards have led to the following comments:
- Mommy, why is it "to" and "do" but "go" and "no"?
- It says "not." I want to say "note."
- I know that "to" is not the number 2 -- that is "two."
- If you cover up the w, where is here. Where? Here! Where? Here!
- Papa wrote "big" in big letters to give me a hint.
- I say "wheeeee" not "we" because it is funny.

What You're Missing
An occasional feature in which I round up of some of my recent Twitter posts.
- "Look, I'm just trying to change the world, OK? I don't have time for a grudge match with every poser in a parka."
- Taxes: DONE! Refund soon I hope. Which will, of course, be sent to the gaping black hole of debt. Sigh. Moment of satisfaction has passed...
- Watched curling the other day but missed the men's skating long program last night. Olympic priorities all screwed up. Olympic fail.
- You what curling needs? More cowbell. Oh, wait... someone took care of that already.
- Canadian women's curling has a fever and the only prescription is MORE COWBELL!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_ExOkfaSCc
- Have a large painful knot on my forehead. Maybe really swollen ingrown zit or I bumped my head and don't remember. Either way, I win at life
- Email exchanges w/ old acquaintance. We've probably said everything we've got to say. Yet I don't want to be the one who ignores her latest.
- Most interesting performance of the night: "Give me back that filet o fish... Give me that fish..." #AmericanIdol #idol
- Babysitting my two nieces (aged 1 and 3) (plus my son). By that I mean, kids are finally in bed and I am drinking
MILP #139 and #140
Double serving of MILPy goodness at PtLawmom's. Then Proto Atty, then here.

Going Through the Motions
Overheard at work:
"We should write a pilot for a sitcom about law clerks. Think Ally McBeal (well, not as quirky, and no singing... more for the hot lawyers) meets The Office ... but in chambers. A little intrigue, a little slapstick, a lot of sarcasm. I've got the title all worked out."

With all their hockey hullabaloo / And that b**ch Anne Murray too
My friend has boys older than my son and often gives me bags of gently used clothing. That's how Clownfish attained a navy sweatshirt with a Canadian flag on it. He hasn't worn it yet this winter, but I haven't done laundry lately, so he dug deep into the shirt drawer today. He came out of his room all dressed this morning, wearing the shirt.
CF: Mommy what flag is this?
Me: Canada.
CF: So that's not the same as the USA. It is another country?
(Note: this sentence makes him officially more globally knowlegable than most of the middle school students I ever taught)
Me: That's right.
CF: Oh! I remember! They won the hockey at the Olympics! And the skier won for his brother and his brother was so happy. He got the gold medal. Canada is nice. And I have I good memory.
