The kids are alright

Clownfish turned 7 during the blackout.  We played boardgames by candlelight and let him pick a terrible chain restaurant for dinner.  He said he had the best birthday ever.  We bought him three Beyblades, which are these tops with a launcher, and plastic bowl "battle stadium," where he launches the tops and lets them crash into each other.  In lieu of a big party, we're taking him to Medieval Times this weekend as a surprise.

Angelfish is about 7.5 months.  I really think she has less hair now than when she was born, and people often mistake her for a boy... a boy wearing green sundresses with strawberries, I guess. She sits up very well unsupported, but needs to be put in that position.  She can transition from there to her army crawl, usually without much head crashing.  She pushes up on her hands and knees and occasionally really crawls a few steps.  She has the most  colorful assortment of squeaks and growls.  She does not know how to sleep for more than 6 hours at a stretch, so there will be at least one nighttime feeding.  She doesn't cry when she wakes up at night, she yells.  I swear she says MA! MAMA!  I have occasionally tried to "wait it out" to see if she'll go back to sleep without a visit from mommy.  Nope. She does not want to be held, soothed, rocked, patted, rubbed, diapered, loved or touched -- she wants to be fed.  Just a few ounces, but then she will happily go right back to bed and to sleep.  I used to at least nurse at night, but with the stress of the blackout, I just found making a bottle easier, and she accepted it happily.  Guess I'm done nursing her.  Sad, really.  When I pick her up at night, I put her up on my shoulder, and she hits me repeatedly, excitedly and happily... its like an abusive version of "oh there you are Mommy, thank you Mommy...."  Kind of makes it hard to resent our little nighttime visit, even if the sleep deprivation gets old.

The little pea to be continues to be.  Nothing is real til its confirmed by a doctor, which will happen sometime next week.  Little pea is making me constantly nauseated and hella cranky, though.

Edited to add:  For those who read in blog reader, I updated the descriptions of the kids on the site, if you're interested.
