MILP #220: In Her Own Words #7 and the Deathly Hallows (Pt. 1)

The Weekly MILP (Moms In the Legal Profession) Roundup is hosted on a rotating basis between PT-LawMom, Butterflyfish, Attorney Work Product and Attorney at Large blogs. We originally rounded up just the moms in law school, but then discovered that those women eventually graduate. Who knew? So now all the moms in the legal field (heh) are represented. We aim for Sunday posts.

I haven't done an In Her Own Words post since MILP #175.  I pull quotes from MILP blogs, hopefully out of context in a way that makes you want to click, and I call that a theme. Yep, shamefully lazy.  Also, I use movie sequels in the title.  There aren't many movie franchises that go over seven, and I am capitalizing on the HP franchise while I can.

So, here goes:

  • "I barely even believe that electrons exist, so don’t even bother trying to explain subatomic particles to me." - R-
  • "It probably didn't help that I hadn't worn a shirt to bed that night." Nonsense & Frippery.
  • "Wake me up if I'm gonna die." Today & Tomorrow
  • "I have totally forgone even using tissues and have been slowly making my way through an entire roll of toilet paper during class."  Only 3 Years.
  • "There are a million things I could be doing, but instead I'm going to take a little 'me' time."  Fumbling for Truth.
  • "I'm just not sure how much longer I can do this."  Magic Cookie.
  • "I didn't even need to ask favorite what-- it's just favorite anything." Lag Liv.
  • "I instantly fell in love with that peanut shaped thing on the screen." WNW Litigator.
  • "I was particularly struck with the way they got along with each other."  Suzy JD.
  • "We start out feeling lost on this journey, and over time, we thrive."  Sammie B.
  • "Discovered I can't join the rest of the residents of my state in becoming a pill head . . . ."  Proto.
  • "I’m not sure if I picked the right weekend or the wrong weekend to give up caffeine . . . ." Atty At Large.
I take this opportunity to repeat something I said on this day last year:

Today, I spent a little time reflecting on my own life.  I then spent some time virtually visiting with the MILPs -- I am so blessed to be part of this community of women, women who kick-ass.  So I guess spent some time this morning thinking and reflecting.  I am thankful.  I am sad.  I am hopeful.  I pray for those we lost, those left behind, those who fight and those who work for peace.  And I remember.

    2 little fish:

    1. I'm done with the lasts.... last class, last exam, last time I ever take the bar (hopefully)...

It's time for the firsts... as in, first day of work. Tomorrow I meet the Gang at the brand new office (literally...it's brand new). I'm very excited to get started on this adventure, but I just really, really hope that I'm going to impress everyone with my mad legal skillz, and not be a rusty old let-down. I'm sure it's fine, and I'm sooo over being self-depracating, but law school the bar exam has done a number on my self-confidence. So.

I'm off now to plan my first day of work outfit and ready to get online with or without experience as a
juristaff, and get a good night's rest!

Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.

Wife: Have you got anything without spam?

Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.

Wife: I don't want ANY spam!
